Harry Belafonte has said that Obama doesn’t need a second term. Belafonte essentially believes that we all know what we need to know — about the sitting United States president, and that a second term would not reveal anything new. In an interview on the Smiley and West radio program Belafonte wondered, “[H]ow could he have had such a splendid opportunity to do more than most presidents would have ever been able to do, and he let that opportunity slip away from him?” Belafonte also questioned, “What legacy will he leave, having the opportunity to serve under such hugely dramatic circumstances and had such a huge impact on the universal state of things?” Additionally, he said that Obama lacked a moral compass, and without that kind of barometer needed — to guide him through his decisions — he has failed to make the requisite, necessary, rightful and proper impact (and changes).
